ADNOC Gas Commits $8.2 Billion to EPC Contracts for Rich Gas Development Phases 2 and 3

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s gas arm, ADNOC Gas, has announced that it will commit a total of $8.2 billion to EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contracts for the second and third phases of its Rich Gas Development (RGD) program. Combined with the $5 billion first-phase contract signed in 2025, cumulative investment in the RGD program is reported to reach $13.2 billion.

ADNOC Gas announced on August 10 that it had signed EPC contracts for the next two phases of the Rich Gas Development program. It is reported that Phase 2 was awarded to China’s Wison Engineering, which will build a new gas processing train at the Habshan complex along with a switching station facility. Phase 3 was awarded to Tecnimont, which will construct a new NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) fractionation train at the Ruwais complex, according to reports. The original reporting refers only to process components such as gas separation, condensate stabilization, acid gas removal and NGL recovery units, and does not disclose the specific process technology licensor.

The Rich Gas Development program is reported to be part of ADNOC Gas’s medium- to long-term strategy of connecting undeveloped domestic rich gas resources to processing facilities in order to increase output of higher-value NGL and gas products. With the Phase 2 and 3 contracts now signed, processing capacity at the Habshan and Ruwais hubs is expected to expand in stages, it is reported.

Implications for Korea’s Industry

The contracts were awarded to China’s Wison Engineering and Italy’s Tecnimont respectively, so this project did not directly translate into a contract win for Korean EPC firms, it is reported. However, given the continued expansion of the UAE’s gas-sector investment, attention is being paid to whether Korean companies could participate in future follow-on facilities or maintenance work.

If Phase 2 and Phase 3 facilities are completed as planned, ADNOC Gas’s NGL production capacity is expected to expand further. Whether ADNOC Gas achieves its stated 60% EBITDA growth target by 2030, and how subsequent orders unfold under its $28 billion gas-sector investment plan, are also expected to draw attention.
