Five core production units, including an ethylbenzene and styrene facility, at the Huajin Aramco Petrochemical complex under construction in Panjin, Liaoning Province, China, have reportedly completed mechanical completion and entered the production readiness stage. The entire complex is reported to be targeting full-scale operation in the second half of 2026.
Huajin Aramco Petrochemical is reportedly a joint venture in which China’s Norinco Group holds a 51% stake, Saudi Aramco holds 30%, and Panjin Xincheng holds 19%, and the company is building an ㅑntegrated refining and petrochemical complex. The five units that recently completed mechanical construction are reportedly the ethylbenzene and styrene unit, a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) unit, an ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol (EO/EG) unit, a propylene oxide (PO) unit, and a polyether polyol unit. Among these, theethylbenzene and styrene unit reportedly employs a highly selective catalytic
dehydrogenation process technology licensed from Badger Licensing of the United States.
The total investment for the entire complex is reported at RMB 83.7 billion (approximately US$11.7 billion). The production capacities of the units that recently completed mechanical completion are reported as 736,000 tonnes/year of ethylbenzene, 700,000 tonnes/year of styrene, 200,000 tonnes/year of HDPE, 590,000 tonnes/year of EO/EG, 300,000 tonnes/year of PO, and 200,000 tonnes/year of polyether polyol. Construction reportedly began in September 2023, and the mechanical completion ceremony took place on July 2, 2026, transitioning the project to the production readiness stage, with the entire complex
targeting full-scale operation in the second half of 2026, according to the report.
