Gansu’s Largest Silicon-Fluorine New Materials Project Begins Commissioning in August

Gansu Juhua New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Zhejiang Juhua Group, has reportedly begun commissioning in August on its integrated high-performance silicon-fluorine new materials project underway in the Yumen Economic Development Zone of Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. The project is reportedly the largest single industrial investment in Gansu Province’s history.

The project reportedly consists of 26 units producing 360,000 tons per year of industrial silicon, 100,000 tons per year of polysilicon, anhydrous hydrofluoric acid (AHF), chloromethanes, calcium chloride, and sulfuric acid. The original report only states that the project applies ‘many domestic-first facilities and cutting-edge new processes,’ without specifying a particular process technology licensor.

Total investment is reportedly RMB 41.0-41.1 billion, with a site area of approximately 8,118 mu (about 541 hectares). Following confirmation of the investment in Yumen City on January 28, 2024, full-scale construction began in April 2025, and the project reportedly passed a pre-commissioning safety review by a Zhejiang Juhua Group expert panel on July 24-27, 2026. On August 6, the second-phase 330kV transmission line (the third power source) was brought online, and commissioning is reportedly underway with a target of producing the first qualified product by August 30. Following full-scale production, the project is reportedly targeting annual revenue exceeding RMB 40 billion and industrial value-added exceeding RMB 30 billion. The investment figure is reported as either RMB 41.0 billion or RMB 41.1 billion depending on the outlet, likely due to differing rounding conventions.
