GE Vernova Wins Gas Turbine Supply Contract for Vietnam’s Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant

U.S.-based GE Vernova announced on June 23 that it has won a contract to supply two 9HA.02 gas turbines and two H78 generators for the Quang Trach II LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) combined-cycle power plant being developed by Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

The Quang Trach II plant is a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) project being built in the Hon La Economic Zone in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam, with EVN as the owner and EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) reportedly handled by a consortium of China’s POWERCHINA and Vietnam’s LILAMA. GE Vernova’s 9HA.02 gas turbine is an H-Class large gas turbine, reportedly the same model previously first applied in Vietnam at the Nhon Trach 3 & 4 power plants.

The plant’s total installed capacity is reportedly expected to exceed 1.6GW (gigawatts), with commercial operation targeted for 2030. This GE Vernova supply contract is confirmed to include two gas turbines and two generators, though the specific contract value was not disclosed.
