HD Hyundai Heavy Industries reportedly announced on the 10th that it has signed a KRW 956 billion contract with US energy infrastructure developer Corban Energy Group to supply power generation equipment. The contract covers a total of 1,000 MW (1 GW) of generation capacity based on the 9.6 MW-class HiMSEN engine, and is reportedly the largest power-generation engine supply contract HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has ever signed.
The equipment being supplied is a large-capacity medium-speed gas engine power generation system based on HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ proprietary 9.6 MW-class HiMSEN engine. With high output and high efficiency enabling 24-hour continuous operation, the system is said to be well suited to the data center market, which requires stable power supply. Corban Energy Group, the buyer, is reportedly a US energy infrastructure specialist supplying gas, LNG, and power products for data center construction, government strategic-materials projects, and various infrastructure projects. The equipment is expected to serve as a power source for a US big tech company’s data center.
