Infinium Launches Methane-Based mSAF Sustainable Aviation Fuel Platform, Combining Electric Reformer and Fischer-Tropsch Catalyst

US-based Infinium is reported to have launched, on 21 September 2026, its mSAF (methane-derived Sustainable Aviation Fuel) platform. The company is said to describe the move as extending its commercial product offerings to methane feedstocks. The platform reportedly combines electric reforming technology with Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis.

The mSAF platform is said to consist of two proprietary technologies. The first is Reform™, an electric steam methane reformer (eSMR) that uses renewable electricity instead of combustion for process heat. The second is Synthesize™, a proprietary FT catalyst and reactor that converts syngas into liquid hydrocarbons.

Feedstocks are described as renewable natural gas, biogas, flare gas and other qualified methane streams. The company reportedly says Project Roadrunner, under construction in Pecos, Texas, will deploy the world’s largest eSMR. Project Pathfinder in Corpus Christi, Texas, is described as the world’s first commercial-scale power-to-liquids e-fuels facility, operating since 2023.

The production capacity of the mSAF platform and the start-up timing of Project Roadrunner have not been disclosed. Carbon intensity is reportedly verified project by project under applicable regulatory and voluntary certification frameworks rather than as a single standard value. Pathfinder is said to have operated since 2023.

The company is reported to say that aviation needs multiple scalable pathways, and the platform widens the feedstock options to methane.

First, a pathway that converts under-utilized methane streams such as flare gas and biogas into aviation fuel may strengthen links between upstream gas and refining and fuels businesses. Second, using an electric reformer instead of a combustion-fired one is presented as a way to lower the carbon intensity of process heat, making access to renewable power a key variable for project economics. Third, project-by-project carbon-intensity certification means product competitiveness may vary with feedstock and power conditions. Fourth, the operating record at Pathfinder serves as a reference point supporting confidence in the new platform.

First, construction progress at Project Roadrunner and whether a start-up date is disclosed. Second, whether the platform’s capacity and investment scale become concrete. Third, whether long-term supply agreements with airlines and fuel buyers are signed. Fourth, the outcome of project-level carbon-intensity certification.
