SDIC Power’s Zhoushan Gas Turbine Plant Unit 2 Begins Commercial Operation in Zhejiang

China’s SDIC Power (国投电力) has begun commercial operation of Unit 2 of its gas turbine power project in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, after passing a 168-hour trial run, it is reported. The unit is reported to be Zhejiang province’s first H-class gas turbine project.

The project is a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant using 9HA.02-class gas turbines, with Unit 2 passing its 168-hour trial run on August 31, 2026 before entering commercial operation, it is reported. The project is listed as a key project under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan for SDIC Power.

Unit 2 has an installed capacity of 848.31MW, with an annual designed power generation of approximately 2.5 billion kWh, it is reported. The unit’s operation is expected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.8 million tonnes. The equipment applied is the 9HA.02-class gas turbine.

As Zhejiang province’s first H-class gas turbine project, the plant is reported to reflect the broader expansion of combined cycle gas power generation along China’s eastern coastal region.

The continued commissioning of combined cycle projects using large H-class gas turbines suggests a trend toward high-efficiency gas turbine orders and lower-emission power generation equipment may continue.
