Technip Energies Named Exclusive Global Licensor for SABIC’s CTR® LDPE Technology

French engineering company Technip Energies has announced an exclusive global licensing agreement for Saudi Basic Industries Corporation’s (SABIC) CTR® (Clean Tubular Reactor) low-density polyethylene (LDPE) process technology. Under the agreement, Technip Energies will license SABIC’s CTR® technology to customers worldwide seeking to build new high-pressure LDPE production facilities, while also providing related engineering, procurement and construction services.

CTR® is a tubular reactor-based high-pressure LDPE process technology developed in-house by SABIC, used to produce LDPE for applications such as packaging, film and wire and cable insulation. Under the Licensing Collaboration Agreement, Technip Energies is reported to support the full lifecycle of high-pressure LDPE plant projects built on SABIC’s technology, from process design through Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), procurement and construction support. The two companies are said to have collaborated on SABIC-affiliated LDPE facility projects since 1996, predating this formal agreement.

The agreement is described as a technology licensing rights transfer covering the global market, rather than an announcement tied to a specific new plant’s investment value or production capacity. The Technip Energies-SABIC partnership is reported to span roughly 30 years, dating back to 1996, though specific royalty terms or the duration of the new agreement have not been disclosed.
