WhiteWater-Led Consortium Reaches FID for Permian-to-Katy ‘Solitude’ Gas Pipeline

A consortium led by U.S.-based WhiteWater has reached a final investment decision (FID) for the ‘Solitude’ pipeline, a large natural gas pipeline connecting the Permian Basin in Texas to Katy, it is reported. The FID was announced on August 17, 2026.

The Solitude pipeline consists of two 48-inch lines, with an ownership structure reported as WhiteWater 50%, Devon Energy 25%, MPLX 10%, Diamondback Energy 7.5% and Western Midstream Partners 7.5%. Phase 1 is planned at approximately 2.25 Bcf/d of capacity, targeting a start-up in the second half of 2029, with Phase 2 adding roughly another 2.25 Bcf/d targeted for 2030.

The pipeline comprises two 48-inch lines, with Phase 1 capacity at 2.25 Bcf/d (targeting H2 2029 start-up) and Phase 2 adding approximately 2.25 Bcf/d (targeting 2030 start-up). The FID was announced on August 17, 2026.

As gas production in the Permian Basin continues to grow, the need for expanded transport infrastructure toward inland Texas and the Gulf Coast has increased, and this FID is reported to be part of that broader supply expansion trend.

A series of gas pipeline projects originating from the Permian Basin are reaching FID, driving active investment in U.S. natural gas midstream infrastructure. Joint equity investment structures between producers and midstream companies are becoming a common financing model for large pipeline projects.
