Saudi Aramco’s Uthmaniyah gas compression plant project is reported to have entered the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) execution phase. SNSH, a joint venture between Italy’s Saipem and local firm Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri and Partners Company for Contracting (NSH), reportedly won the contract, with total contract value estimated at around $1.24 billion, of which Saipem’s share is said to be approximately €900 million.
The project reportedly involves new gas compression facilities to extend the production life of the Uthmaniyah gas field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The stated objective is to separate gas and liquids and boost gas pressure from roughly 150 psig to 1,000 psig, delivering about 882 million cubic feet of gas per day to existing processing infrastructure. The original reports did not specify the exact compressor models or process licensor.
The contract was formally awarded in June 2026, and construction reportedly began in earnest with a kickoff meeting on August 11. The construction period is said to be about 42 months. Engineering News-Record (ENR) reported the contract value at approximately $1 billion, while Construction Review Online and Zawya put SNSH’s total contract value at around $1.24 billion, and SaudiGulf Projects cited Saipem’s share at approximately €900 million (about SAR 3.9 billion) — different outlets appear to report figures on different bases (‘total contract value’ versus ‘Saipem’s share’), so caution is needed in interpreting the numbers.
