Chinese chemical fiber giant Hengyi Petrochemical (000703.SZ) has reportedly disclosed plans to pursue a PA6 (nylon 6) melt direct-spinning project with a combined capacity of 400,000 tons per year across two sites in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Total investment is approximately RMB 4.87 billion.
The project is reportedly being carried out separately by Hengyi Petrochemical’s subsidiaries, Guangxi Hengyi New Materials Co., Ltd. in Guangxi, and Hangzhou Yizhijin New Materials Co., Ltd. in Hangzhou. No separate third-party EPC contractor is named in the disclosure, and the project is reportedly using Hengyi Petrochemical’s own proprietary PA6 melt direct-spinning technology. Melt direct-spinning refers to an integrated production process in which nylon feedstock is polymerized and directly fed into spinning (fiber formation). On the same disclosure date, Hengyi Petrochemical also separately announced a 300,000-ton-per-year waste fiber recycling project in Haining, Zhejiang Province (investment of RMB 687 million), which is a separate matter unrelated to this PA6 project.
