US-Saudi Consortium “MERA Oil” Narrows Site List for $5 Billion Refinery Outside the Strait of Hormuz

A US-Saudi backed consortium, MERA Oil, reportedly announced on July 29 (local time) that it has narrowed the candidate sites to three for a 200,000-barrel-per-day refinery and export hub outside the Strait of Hormuz. The final site is expected to be confirmed by year-end, with Phase 1 mechanical completion targeted for the end of 2029.
